Employers warned over serial ageism litigants

Employers have been warned not to co-operate with serial litigants who lodge multiple age discrimination claims on the basis of job adverts.

Firms that include phrases such as "recent graduates" and "school leaver" in their adverts are being targeted by older litigants who use the government’s tribunal service website to lodge claims, it has been reported. The litigant then sends the employer threatening emails asking for several thousand pounds in order to settle the matter out of court.
