Film review: Capitalism: A Love Story

Having taken on big business, gun culture, defence policy and the healthcare insurance industry, documentary maker Michael Moore has turned his lens on the United States’ ultimate sacred cow – its economic system. Unsurprisingly, coming from the serial left-wing agitator, Capitalism: A Love Story is anything but, and much of it focuses on the financial meltdown of the past two years. Indeed, it soon becomes clear that when Moore talks about “capitalism” he isn’t referring to the system set out by the likes of Adam Smith in political theory books, but rather to the more dramatic excesses of corporate America and its banking industry.
