Treasure talent

Performance management activities need to be more than a tick-box appraisal process; they should be positioned to align with strategic organisational goals, driving employee engagement and continuous improvement. This is one of the messages to be given by Angela Baron, CIPD adviser, OD and engagement, in a forthcoming seminar at the CIPD’s Performance Management conference in London. Baron will be exploring the implications of the CIPD’s recent “Hot Topic” survey report Performance management in action: current trends and practice. While the survey has found examples of sophisticated and well-designed programmes that generate a high‑performance culture, it’s evident that many practitioners still do not realise the full potential of performance management.
