We badly need an anti-bullying service – but not this one

As a training professional who delivers many courses relating to issues such as bullying and harassment at work, I was astounded to see Christine Pratt had revealed that individuals from particular (and rather small) organisations – namely the prime minister's and deputy prime minister's offices – had contacted the National Bullying Helpline, of which she is the founder. Although these individuals were not named, the revelation is certainly a breach of the confidentiality that callers should, and are led to believe can, expect when using the helpline. It also puts employers in the difficult position of having to respond, in the public domain, to accusations they may not be aware of or have not had a chance to investigate – and which could be malicious in nature.
