Brown announces senior public-sector pay freeze

Gordon Brown has announced pay freezes for senior public-sector staff as he warned that the “economic storm” is not over.

Senior staff in the civil service, military, judiciary and NHS will be affected, as the prime minister confirmed there should be no increase in base pay or the non-consolidated bonus pot for 2010-11.
