Election could herald more strike action

The forthcoming general election and likely spending cuts afterwards signal even tougher times ahead for UK industrial relations, according to employment experts.

This year has so far seen major disputes at BA, Royal Mail and the civil service, while a ballot has also been called at British Gas. At BA, where strikes are due to start tomorrow and where the battle has become particularly acrimonious, with management preparing a strike-breaking temporary workforce.
