Give overseas doctors English test, says GMC

Doctors who come to work in the UK from the EU should pass language checks before being allowed to practise, a health select committee has heard.

In an evidence session last week, the General Medical Council (GMC) warned MPs that an urgent change in the law was needed to ensure overseas doctors were competent in English.
