A company restructure enabled me to change roles and get closer to the business: delivering training that really helps our people make a difference to local communities.I have worked for Amey, one of the UK’s leading companies working in partnership with public services, since March 2006. My role was to consolidate training and design a suite of events to be delivered internally, with consistent messages. For the following two years, take-up of training increased, as it was easily accessible and free to employees. However, in 2008, the company restructured into market-facing divisions, which meant my role changed and I became a learning and development business partner in Amey’s local government division. This gave me the chance to find out first-hand whether the management events I had designed and delivered were making a difference.
