Seldom-seen scenes

Reading the enthusiastic defence of town hall chief executives’ pay from Mike Cooke, pay and reward lead at the Public Sector People Managers’ Association, reminded me of the Private Eye cartoon “Scenes you seldom see”. Wouldn’t it be good, just for once, to read a quote from a senior public-sector HR person along the lines of: “Yes, we all accept that our chief executive pay has become totally distorted and we really need to do something about it.”
