Set-up of EHRC was marred by staffing errors, report finds

Serious and costly staffing errors were made when the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) was set up in 2007, a parliamentary report has found.Staff at the three commissions that were a precursor to the EHRC were able to leave with large payoffs, costing £11 million, as part of an early exit scheme. The departure of staff with valuable skills left the new commission with gaps in key skills areas and 140 people short. It also meant that seven senior staff had to be rehired as consultants.
