Third of workers have caring responsibilities
Workers with caring responsibilities are just are as likely to be looking after a partner, relative, or friend as they are to be looking after children, CIPD research has revealed.Focus on Caring at Work , which surveyed 2,000 employees, found that a third (34 per cent) of respondents have some form of caring responsibilities, with 20 per cent citing children. However, 12 per cent say they are caring for a relative, 6 per cent their partner, and 2 per cent a friend. There was a significant overlap with some employees having dual responsibility for both children and an adult.
