Nurse loses crucifix discrimination claim

A Christian nurse has lost her discrimination claim against her employers, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospitals NHS Trust, for preventing her visibly wearing a crucifix at work.

Front-line nurse Shirley Chaplin wanted to wear her crucifix necklace at work but found herself in breach of the trust's uniform and dress code. This prevents front-line staff from wearing necklaces to stop patients grabbing them.
