Social networking
Methodology Researchers conducted a social network audit in September and October 2009, tracking more than 2,000 online conversations. This was supplemented by seven one-to-one interviews with HR and communications staff at a selection of UK employers, to learn about how they view social media.Findings Only a few major employers are making the most of social networking, yet employment issues are widely covered on the main networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn. HR discussions include little on strategy, tending to focus on the working environment, salaries and work/life balance. HR topics account for almost 46 per cent of online discussion and advice requests, while job recommendations make up 28 per cent.
