Thousands of nurses set to lose jobs, claims Royal College

More than 36,000 nursing jobs could be lost over the next three years as NHS bosses strive to meet cost-saving targets, according to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).

A RCN survey of 26 of England’s 168 health trusts found that 5,600 posts were already earmarked for cuts, a figure that could rise to 36,000 - what the college described as the “worst case scenario” - if the trend was replicated across the rest of the country.
