Management and profitability
Methodology
A nine-month analysis focused on qualitative and quantitative data, including business case studies, a survey of more than 400 employers and analysis of financial performance information from Companies House.
Findings The study identified clear evidence of the impact of investment in management capabilities on business profitability. In spite of the challenging economic context in which the research was conducted, it found a link between strong managerial skills, at all levels of an organisation, and improved business performance. The research also highlighted a number of “exemplar” practices that contributed to overall improved business performance.
