Hot seat to highchair
Sometimes it feels like there’s no getting away from other people’s careers. Gordon Brown’s recent but largely expected departure is one example. Then there’s the boost given by the coalition government to the careers of David Cameron and Nick Clegg. I also found myself looking up new Cabinet members on Wikipedia to find out more about their careers.Outside the political sphere, I’ve heard recently much more than I really wanted or needed to know about the careers of Lord Triesman (ex-chairman of the Football Association), several Catholic cardinals and bishops, and CEO Tony Hayward as he struggled to control the oil leak and BP’s reputation in the Gulf of Mexico.
