Nobody taking a senior role at Transport for London (TfL) can expect an easy ride. Being a leader in the organisation that is responsible for keeping London moving (see bottom of article) comes with a certain territory – that everyone you meet in the capital wants to blame you for their terrible journey, moan about delays or rail against the engineering works that seem to shut down half the Tube system every weekend.
