Court agrees with German police officer that time spent getting dressed should count as part of his working hours
A German police officer has won additional pay after arguing in court that the time he spends getting dressed should count as part of his working hours.Martin Schauder, an officer in Münster, told the administrative court that it took him 15 minutes each day to put on his uniform and equipment, which include a pistol and holster, handcuffs and a gas canister. He said that since he was expected to be fully dressed and equipped before his shift started, he was effectively doing 45-50 extra hours of work per year for no pay.
