Two-year degree proposals under fire

Employers and educators have given a mixed welcome to government proposals to encourage universities to deliver shorter and more intensive degree courses.In a keynote speech to an audience of vice-chancellors at London’s South Bank university yesterday, business secretary Vince Cable said that funding criteria would be opened up in favour of shorter courses, hence offering more choice to students and making courses more attractive to adult learners.
