UK economy 'living on past glories', say skills experts

The UK economy is set for a rapid slide down the international league table unless there is radical reform of the education and skills system, according to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).

While the UK economy is still the sixth largest in the world, it will not stay there for much longer unless millions of people are trained in cutting edge skills, the UKCES warned in a report, ‘Ambition 2020’, published today.
