Bonus pay for NHS consultants to be reviewed

The government has announced a UK-wide review of bonus payments for NHS consultants to update the scheme. More than £200 million was paid to NHS consultants in “clinical excellence and distinction awards” last year, while new awards for 564 consultants accounted for £20 million of that sum.
