Extra transport for London as Tube strike looms
A host of contingency transport measures will be deployed in London today, in a bid to prevent this evening’s 24-hour tube strike from bringing the capital to a standstill.
Up to 100 extra buses, an additional 10,000 river boat journeys, escorted bike rides and marshalled taxi ranks will be provided for commuters affected by the stoppage on the London Underground network, which begins at 5pm and is expected to disrupt services until Wednesday morning.
