There’s a passage hidden away in chapter six that sums up the importance of this book: “Forget credit crunches and national debts, we are talking global ecological debts. This should be fundamentally more worrying and more newsworthy than any banking crisis. The ecology is what the economy relies on to survive, and it is being used at a greater rate than it can be replenished.” Yikes.
