I’d always had a long-standing interest in business but the people aspect also appealed, so I chose to study a joint undergraduate degree. It can be easy to get caught in an education trap where a lack of practical experience makes breaking into our industry challenging, but I was able to start working in HR part time at North Yorkshire County Council while completing my management masters degree.
