Concentrate on motivation
You know the cliché about actors agonising over “what’s my motivation here?”. It’s a vital question for HR too.
Don’t worry: I’m not advocating a life of compulsory self-obsession. But recently I have been reflecting on whether we’re doing enough to get to the heart of what connects people and work. I’m concerned that we don’t really reflect a proper understanding of the crucial differences between various motivational factors.
