Feel-good film fails to reveal the truth

I note a sense of irony that the Equality Act 2010 came into force on 1 October, the same day as the release of the film Made in Dagenham . “Ladies in waiting” ( PM , 30 September) highlighted the struggle by Ford’s skilled female machinists to achieve pay equality with male manual workers. This campaign may have led to the Equal Pay Act (1970) and subsequent Equal Pay (Amendment Regulations) 1983 but the machinists did not achieve pay equality.
