More than six in 10 Irish employers cut jobs
Over 60 per cent of employers in Ireland have cut jobs in response to the recession while only 16 per cent of employees have experienced a cut in their basic hourly rate of pay, according to a major National Workplace Survey.While the survey covers the period up to June 2009 and thus does not include any cuts introduced since, it bears out the trend already identified that employers are opting to cut jobs ahead of pay in response to the recession.
