This case shows that gossip about pregnancy can amount to harassment. The fact that the employee in the case had opened herself up to the gossip by her actions was irrelevant, and it was relatively easy for her to link the treatment she received to her pregnancy. It is also a useful reminder to employers of the potential pitfalls arising from office parties, prior to the upcoming festive season.
