Planned job cuts are needed straight away
I was dismayed by the article “CIPD urges ministers to ‘underpin labour market’” (News, page 8, 30 September). It reported that the CIPD is asking for a delay for up to 80 per cent of intended job cuts in the public sector until after 2013.Some of the problems which have led to the current situation are associated with a dramatic increase in public-sector jobs which do little to enhance the gross national product.
