“Courage to challenge” is in the spotlight this issue as we continue our examination of the most important behaviours for HR professionals today. Drawing on the CIPD’s HR profession map, this series considers each of the eight behaviours identified as vital to the delivery of leading edge practice in organisations. But what is it that we actually mean by having the courage to challenge? It’s defined by CIPD as being about “showing the courage and confidence to speak up and challenge others even when confronted with resistance or unfamiliar circumstances”.
