High earners take a hit to pensions
The government has decided to cut the annual allowance for tax-free pension benefits from £255,000 to £50,000 from 6 April 2011. The reform is expected to generate about £4 billion a year, but lowering the tax-free pension threshold could pose serious challenges for HR practitioners because more employees will be affected.
