Public-sector job cuts reduced by 160,000 in latest OBR prediction
Public-sector job cuts are expected to be 160,000 lower than predicted in June, according to the Office of Budget Responsibility (OBR) in its revised economic forecast for 2010.
In an update published today (Monday), the OBR predicted a reduction in general government employment of 330,000 between 2010-11 and 2014-15. This is a substantial drop from the 490,000 job cuts forecast in June.
