Don’t be a Scrooge over parties

“Bah humbug” is a phrase made famous by the Dickensian character Ebenezer Scrooge and, as many people know, is now used to indicate the absence of Christmas spirit. Sadly, the austere economic climate means an inevitable tightening of the purse strings both at work and at home. For UK managers planning the all-important Christmas do, this presents a challenge. There is a balance to be struck between being sensible (and sensitive) with the budget and not appearing too “bah humbug” at the same time.
