How can I leave interim life?

The questionI have worked as an interim HR professional for six years, and have always enjoyed the challenge of taking on different assignments for a set period of time. My most recent role, which is soon coming to an end, is as an HR policy manager for a government department. However, I’m now seeking more stability in my career and want to move into a permanent role, probably in the private sector. What are the pros and cons of such a switch and what do you see as some of the challenges I may face?
