Local authorities to pilot secondment service

Up to 30 local authorities are to take part in a pilot scheme of a new online secondment service, it has been announced.StaffShare, a social enterprise launched in conjunction with Local Government Employers, will connect councils with spare skilled staff to other employers who could benefit from taking on a secondee. The service will act as an "internet marketplace" for skills, providing an alternative to redundancy and help smooth out employment peaks and troughs, it is claimed.
