Qualification schemes no ‘quick win’

As People Management reported earlier this month, Hewlett-Packard has become the latest company to create an employer-sponsored qualification as a tool to recruit, retain and motivate its people. I believe that company leaders and everyone within HR should welcome such initiatives, given they can blend both individual and business development needs. But I do worry that some employers might be attracted to the idea by the latest headlines without properly thinking through all of the issues involved.
