Working together for success
Modern organisations are essentially collaborative networks, whether people work in large or small teams or pairs. Good collaboration skills are therefore critical.Professionals with these skills have the capability to work with and get on with people across and outside the organisation to deliver projects and programmes. Collaboration is the connective tissue of organisations; it helps people to link their knowledge and expertise in a way that benefits the organisation and its people. Collaborative practitioners: - work with others inside and outside the organisation to deliver increased value; - share and do not hoard or hide information and insights; - have a bigger picture in mind when considering projects and programmes;- develop a creative approach because collaborative people are always thinking of new patterns of working and connecting. Underpinning collaborative behaviour is an ability to deliver the project in hand while paying attention to building relationships. By putting many minds to work on a problem or project, collaborative behaviour grows capability. Collaborators are also curious because they think externally and outside of any organisational constraints.
