Support sick staff back into productivity
Tim Smedley correctly notes that presenteeism is “the loss of productivity that occurs when employees come to work but function at less than full capacity because of ill health” ("Unwanted presence", 13 January). Unfortunately, he then gets drawn into the age-old trap of focusing on illness, not on productivity.
