At what level can I enter HR?
The question I have been an L&D consultant for 14 years. For some time I’ve been looking to move into HR and, as I am shortly to be made redundant, I feel now is the time to make this move. My recent consultancy work has incorporated both HR and L&D elements, and I am also studying for a CIPD certificate in employee relations law and practice (Cerlap) to broaden my skills. But I am unsure about the level I should seek to enter HR. I can’t take a large pay cut and accept an HR assistant-type role, but am unsure whether my experience will be enough to enter at a higher level. Should I lower my salary expectations or aim high and risk failure?
