Employers ‘should not over-rely on compromise agreements’

Acas has welcomed proposed reforms that envisage a greater role for mediation in reducing tribunal claims, but has warned against an over-reliance on the process - and compromise agreements in particular - as a way of resolving disputes.In its response to the government’s consultation Resolving workplace disputes, the conciliation service said that mediation should not be regarded as a “cure-all”, but as one component of a conflict management strategy.
