Jackie Orme: Building self-belief

I've spent a fair bit of time in the Far East in the past few months. We’re building on existing relationships in Asia to lay the foundations for a CIPD base in the region.

Across Hong Kong, China and Singapore, my overriding impression is of powerful changes being driven by immense self-belief and big ambition. Our research in the region found many examples of HR practice leapfrogging established Western HR orthodoxy, driven by the need to innovate and excel in such a high-growth, competitive environment. This drive feeds up to the national stage. The government in Singapore, for example, has declared its aspiration to be the "talent hub" for Asia.
