New retirement legislation starts in April: What you need to know

Advertising feature

From 6th April, employers will no longer be able to use the default retirement age to compulsorily retire employees; if they wish to retire staff then this will have to be objectively justified.

Employers who fail to embrace this new legislation may face claims of unfair dismissal and discrimination.

To help you understand these changes Acas has published guidance and designed training courses for employers. This includes the Acas Advisory leaflet - Working without the DRA - Employer Guidance

View Acas training course listings, dates and locations - Retirement Process and the removal of the Default Retirement Age.

Acas is also able to offer specialist in-company business solutions.
