Birmingham council to offshore IT jobs to India

Birmingham City Council is planning to outsource 100 jobs to India this year, in what is believed to be the first example of direct offshoring by a local authority in the UK.The news has provoked a furious reaction from trade unions, with Unite claiming it is the “tip of the iceberg”, and would encourage other councils to export jobs abroad to cut costs.
