How can I move into HR?

THE QUESTION: I’m an experienced manager in mid-career who spent eight years as a team leader for a motor insurer. During that time, I had 11 direct reports and took on all the responsibilities that come with managing a team of people. After taking a career break to have a child, I returned in a non-management position and am now facing redundancy. Since the people management side of my job was the aspect that I enjoyed the most, I’ve thought long and hard and decided I would like to retrain to work in HR. I’m currently studying to gain my certificate in HR practice. Can you give me any tips on how to sell myself in HR?
