Welfare reforms not radical enough, argues Labour’s Field

The government’s sweeping agenda of welfare reform is still not radical enough to motivate the UK’s long-term jobless into employment, according to Frank Field, former Labour minister and coalition ‘poverty tsar’.Although 400,000 jobs were created in the coalition’s first year, 87 per cent of those roles have been filled by migrant workers, according to Field, the MP for Birkenhead.
