British Gas: Power broker

British Gas is very big and very profitable. So profitable, in fact, that it is sometimes criticised for making too much money, even though it claims to only make a profit of around £4 a month per customer. The company, however, has absolutely no plans to rest on its laurels, despite seeing a 20 per cent increase in operating profits last year.
