Unions dismayed by Sellafield plant closure

A nuclear reprocessing plant at Sellafield is to be closed with the potential loss of 800 jobs after Japanese government contracts dried up, it has been announced.The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) said running Sellafield’s MOX facility was no longer commercially viable following Japan’s earthquake and tsunami in March which crippled the country’s nuclear industry – the site’s main client.
