Whitehall cuts number of top earners
The number of civil servants and quango officials earning more than £150,000 has been cut by 15 per cent over the past year, new government figures have shown.There are now 291 mandarins and quangos chiefs on top tax-bracket salaries compared to 345 in 2010 – a saving of £10 million to the taxpayer, according to the Cabinet Office.
