Sheffield council settles large equal pay case
Nearly 1,000 female workers at Sheffield City Council are in line for equal pay awards after the local authority agreed to settle a long-running legal dispute. The council decided not to press ahead with its appeal against a 2010 court ruling, which found that hundreds of female carers, cleaners and school catering staff that it employed had not been receiving fair pay.
