When employees fail to turn up for work for no good reason, employers often try to argue that the individuals concerned have dismissed themselves because they have breached their contracts. In this case, the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) was once again asked to consider whether this ‘self-dismissal’ argument was valid.
